I can’t believe how fast time flies!!! This week Little Joaquin has been getting some quality time with his uncle Alo, Grandma and Grandpa Brunner. He’s also been learning how to lift his head up when on his tummy… I think this little tike will be crawling soon. He seems to be so strong! LOVE IT! We love seeing him grow and make new strides. He is getting so big it’s unreal.
So far we have come up with two goals for our little guy. #1 Never speak negative words toward our children, especially within the first year of life. I know this sounds pretty no-brainer. But think about it, how often do you hear, “You little stinker”… “Poopy pants boy”… “Stinky boy”… “Lift your head up lazy baby” or any other form of negative talk that parents interpret as sweet talk. Think what you will, but I’ve read studies that suggest that negative talk, regardless of how harmless it may seem, can lead to poor self esteem. Yes, babies will not “remember” what you say, but they hear these words and store them. Babies are very smart and they learn every moment they are awake. If you disagree that’s ok, but what harm is there in avoiding all negative talk? Goal #2 We’ve decided to come up with a night routine that has worked so far like a charm. All it involves is a little prayer, a chapter out of the Book of Mormon and a hymn. He sleeps every night like a heavenly angel. We love it!
Haha, he looks so intrigued!
Getting ready to go out for a night in the town.
